Therapy for Anxiety & Stress
For people feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.
What it is
Chronic anxiety and stress leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or like you can never truly relax. Some people experience physical symptoms like a racing heart, a tight chest, hightened blood pressure, or a sense of impending doom. Others experience it cognitively: constant worry, replaying social interactions, or perfectionism where nothing is ever quite enough.
Anxiety might be the part of you that helps you stay on top of things. When this happens, rest gets misconstrued as laziness and there is a constant drive to be productive. Anxiety can also be the result of trauma or life events that haven't been addressed.
Whether you're dealing with generalized worry, social anxiety, performance anxiety, or chronic stress, ISDR offers a compassionate and structured approach to help you navigate these challenges.
What we work with
- Generalized anxiety — persistent worry that's hard to turn off or trace to a source
- Social anxiety — anxious anticipation, replaying social interactions, and exhaustion from wearing a social mask
- Perfectionism and high-functioning anxiety — striving for an ideal image of success but never feeling fulfilled
- Chronic stress — when life feels like too much for too long
- People pleasing — constant monitoring of others' reactions at the cost of your wellbeing and selfhood
- Procrastination and avoidance — when anxiety gets in the way of work, relationships, and self-care
How we work
All of our work is grounded in Self-Determination Based Therapy (SDBT), which means we look at anxiety through the lens of unmet psychological needs. Anxiety often chips away at your Autonomy — the sense that you are directing your own life. It can also make you feel like you're incapable (affecting Competence). Stress and anxiety can also make it hard to connect with others and allow you to be yourself enough to feel truly known (Relatedness).
Within the SDBT framework, we draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches to help you understand and work with your anxiety. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps build psychological flexibility, which is the ability to sit with discomfort without letting it make your decisions for you. Narrative Therapy helps to reframe your anxiety as an external force with a story, rather than an internal flaw. Internal Family Systems (IFS) work is particularly useful when anxiety is so present that it feels like a part of your identity.
